SAU Women's Basketball Makes Nine Three-Pointers In Loss To Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 22) – Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA) scored a season-high 20 points and Saint Augustine's University connected on nine three-pointers in an 89-70 CIAA women's basketball loss to Fayetteville State University at Capel Arena on Saturday in the regular-season finale.

The Lady Falcons (10-18 overall, 5-12 CIAA) finished the regular season fifth in the Southern Division. They will likely play Elizabeth City State University in a CIAA Tournament first-round game on Tuesday, Feb. 25.


The nine treys were one away from tying a season-high for the Lady Falcons. They swished 10 three-pointers against Elizabeth City State University on Dec. 14, 2019.


Caraballo was 5 of 10 from the floor including 2 of 3 from three-point land. She was 8 of 8 from the free throw line.

Kamya Renwicks (Sr. /Baltimore, MD) was also 5 of 10 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from the three-point arc. She added five assists and five rebounds for the Lady Falcons.

Milequa Eason (Jr. /Woodland, NC) scored 15 points on 2 of 3 three-point shooting. Shanika Clark (Sr. /Orlando, FL) tallied seven points and eight rebounds for SAU.
The Lady Falcons started the fourth period down 67-42 but shot 50 percent to get within 14 midway in the period.

The Broncos made a final push for the final score. SAU outscored the Broncos 28-22 in the fourth period.


Danica Lucas scored 18 points to lead five double-figure scorers for the Broncos (18-8 overall, 5-12 CIAA), who outscored the Lady Falcons 44-26 in the paint. Amanita Johnson added 16 points and London Thompson had 15 points for FSU, which finished first in the Southern Division.
