SAU Softball Falls To USC Aiken In Doubleheader

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 9) – Saint Augustine's University fell to USC Aiken 8-0 in the first game and 10-2 in the second game of its season opening softball doubleheader at Satcher Field in Aiken, S.C., on Sunday.

In the first game, Briana Person (So./Jarratt, VA) collected the only hit for the Lady Falcons. She was 1-for-2 at the plate.

Makayla August (Sr./Palm Springs, CA) kept the score close early with her pitching. The Lady Falcons trailed 1-0 before the Pacers exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning.

In the second game, the Lady Falcons scored two runs in the second inning after falling behind 9-0 in the first inning to the Pacers (6-0 overall). Yasmine Thompson (Fr./Charlotte, NC) led off with a double and later scored on Shaquelle Bain's (So./Nassau, Bahamas) two-run homer. Both Thompson and Bain were 1-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Falcons.

SAU (0-2 overall) is back on the field Saturday, Feb. 15, in a home doubleheader against Bluefield College at Lions Park. The first game starts at 1 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 3 p.m.​
