RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 21) - Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) amassed a season-high 26 kills for Saint Augustine's University (SAU) in a 3-1 CIAA volleyball loss to Winston-Salem State at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday.
Graham accounted for 27 of the Lady Falcons' 68 points in the match. Her hitting percentage was .333 and she added 10 digs.
SAU, behind Graham's hitting, nearly rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Graham led the Lady Falcons with eight kills in the third set for a 25-14 victory.
She added eight kills in the fourth set as the Lady Falcons scored six straight points to tie the score at 22-22. The Rams scored the final three points to win the match 25-22.
Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC) added 10 kills and Sydney Moore (So./West Bloomfield, MI) collected a season-high 37 assists for the Lady Falcons (7-11 overall), who fell into a third-place tie with the Rams at 3-2 in the Southern Division.
Maegan Williams (Fr./Durham, NC) totaled 20 digs and Janina Mayers (Sr./Christ Church, Barbados) added 17 digs for SAU.
Raven Gray finished with 13 kills and 12 digs for the Rams (8-12 overall), who won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20. Angel Bowden and Rylee Wilson each totaled 15 assists..
The Lady Falcons split the home-and-home series with the Rams this season. In the first meeting on Sept. 27, SAU captured a 3-1 win.
The Lady Falcons are back at home Monday, Oct. 25, for a match against Southern Division leader Fayetteville State. The match begins at 6 p.m. inside Emery Gymnasium.
