RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 24) - Saint Augustine's University held a double-digit halftime lead but Edward Waters rallied in the second half to defeat the Lady Falcons 70-63 in a non-conference women's basketball game at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Lauren Banks (Fr./Clinton, MD) and Ariyanna Brown (Jr./Charlotte, NC) scored 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Lady Falcons, who relied on their pressure defense to build a 42-30 halftime lead after leading by 16 in the second quarter.
Edward Waters, led by 17 points from Sha'Kawanza Brown, used its own pressure defense to outscore the Lady Falcons 40-21 in the second half, including 24-11 in the third period. The Lady Tigers (6-2 overall) made 23 of 28 free throw attempts for 82.1 percent for the contest.
Milequa Eason (Sr./Woodland, NC) added nine points and Jada Swafford (Sr./Alexandria, LA) chipped in eight points and three steals for the Lady Falcons (2-3 overall), who shot 48 percent from the floor.
After the Thanksgiving Day break, the Lady Falcons hit the road to meet Bluefield State in Bluefield, W.Va., on Saturday, Nov. 27. Game time is 2 p.m.
