RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 17) - Saint Augustine's University fell victim to a three-point barrage by Virginia Union in an 87-56 CIAA men's basketball loss at Emery Gymnasium on Monday.
The Panthers shot 66.7 percent from the floor, including 56.5 percent behind the three-point arc (13 of 23) in the victory. The Falcons, who shot 33.3 percent, could not overcome the visitors' hot shooting.
Although the Falcons fell behind early by a large deficit, they battled to the end. Three players who stood out were Dhashon Dyson (So./Chicago, IL), Sean Tony Hauser (Jr./Charlotte, NC) and Josh Page (Sr./Washington, DC).
Dyson scored 18 points and Hauser added 13 points and seven rebounds. Page had 11 points, four assists and two steals.
Tahj Harding scored 15 points to lead four double-figure scorers for the Panthers (5-0 CIAA, 12-3 overall).
The Falcons (1-4 CIAA, 3-12 overall) have one day of rest before hosting Johnson C. Smith on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Emery Gymnasium in a CIAA Southern Division matchup. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
