RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 24) - Saint Augustine's University came oh-so-close in a 49-48 women's basketball loss to Bowie State at Emery Gymnasium on Sunday, Jan. 23.
The Lady Falcons stormed back after trailing by 11 points three minutes earlier. Jada Swafford (Sr./Alexandria, LA) scored a layup off her rebound as time expired, but unfortunately, the comeback ended one point short.
Lauren Banks (Fr./Clinton, MD) scored 14 points and Taniyah Greene (Cheltenham, MD) added 10 points for the Lady Falcons (1-6 CIAA, 5-10 overall). Robyn Howard and Saniha Jackson each scored 12 points for the Bulldogs (4-3 CIAA, 6-8 overall).
SAU held a 23-18 halftime lead but the margin evaporated in the third period. The Lady Falcons were outscored 18-6 in the period and entered the final period behind 36-29.
The Lady Falcons have lost their last three games by a total of eight points.
SAU will host Livingstone on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m. This will be the sixth straight home contest in January for the Lady Falcons.
