Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Oct. 13) – The Saint Augustine's University volleyball team defeated Winston-Salem State, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) inside Whitaker Gymnasium.
SAU is now on a three-game winning streak improving to (5-4, 5-4 CIAA), putting them in second place in the CIAA Southern Division.
The Lady Falcons responded to an early run by the Rams by tying the set at 4-all, and the set went back and forth, with both teams exchanging points throughout the set. After the match was tied at 20, SAU finished the set on a 5-1 scoring run to take the set 25-21 and lead the match 1-0.
SAU started set two on a 2-0 scoring run and went on a 7-0 scoring run to go up 20-14. SAU overcame another run by the Rams and finished the set on a 5-1 run to take set two, 25-19, and lead the match 2-0.
In the third set, SAU withstood another run by the Rams that resulted in an SAU timeout. After the timeout, the momentum swayed in favor of the Lady Falcons as they tied the match at 10 and then took the lead and eventually won the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
The Lady Falcons return to action in the division against Fayetteville State on Monday, Oct. 17, in Fayetteville, NC.
