Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Falcons survive late scare to end six-game losing streak over Allen University Yellow Jackets

Raleigh, NC. – The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team ended its six-game losing streak in thrilling fashion. The Falcons got off to a blazing hot 17-2 run and were clicking on all cylinders. The Allen University Yellow Jackets slowly chipped away ending the first half on a 12-5 run, cutting the lead to 31-26. The second half did not disappoint as both teams battled from start to finish. Players from both teams received double-technical fouls on two separate occasions during the game as the Emery Gymnasium fans looked on in anguish with each back-and-forth possession.

Each time the Falcons tried to pull away, the Yellow Jackets fought back, and even managed to get within one with 46 seconds remaining. A turnover on the following possession resulted in a Yellow Jackets floater to put them ahead by one with 25 seconds to go. Good fortune found the Falcons as Christopher Hill found Nemo Johnson wide open underneath the basket for the game-winning score with 13 seconds remaining. Daveon Dunn secured the win with a clutch steal on the following inbound pass. The Falcons closed it out at the free throw line after an intentional foul by the Yellow Jackets.

The Falcons were led by Moses Mupungo who finished with 13 points, including a perfect 3-3 from the 3-point line. Nemo Johnson had 10 points and four rebounds, and Chance Jamison played strong with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Falcons bench had a huge night contributing 43 of the team's 67 points.

Head Coach Chucky Brown's Postgame Comments

"It was a great win for us. Any win is a good win I feel like no matter how ugly it may be. I'm just proud of my guys, we kept fighting. We got in a little bit of a rut where we weren't scoring, and they made a nice run and we were able to withstand that run, so I'm proud of my guys for keeping the fight up. Once we stop hurting ourselves, we'll be able to put a nice win streak together."
