RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 8) – The Saint Augustine's University (SAU) cross country runners will compete for the first time this season on Friday, Sept. 9, in the Blue Bear Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. The women's 5K race begins at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 9:45 a.m. at Salisbury Community Park.
SAU will be among 23 teams competing in the event. The other schools include CIAA opponents Bowie State, Claflin, Elizabeth City State, Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Lincoln (Pa.), Shaw, Virginia Union, Winston-Salem State and Livingstone, which is the host.
The SAU men's team features Isaiah Chapman (Fr./Raleigh, NC), Brenton Chapple (So./Baltimore, MD), Robert Edwards Jr. (Sr./Pembroke, Bermuda), Sean Kalawan (So./Westmoreland, Jamaica) and Kadain Roper (So./Portland, Jamaica).
The Lady Falcons squad consists of Ruth Jepkogei (So./Eldoret, Kenya), Joyce Jepleting (Jr./Kapsabet, Kenya), Justyce Murphy (Fr./Tampa, FL), Christabelle Obi (Fr./Ypsilanti, MI) and Taymar Smith (Fr./Greenville, SC).
