Orangeburg, SC --The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team kept South Carolina State to just 35.1 percent shooting from the field, but fell 69-61 to the Bulldogs on the road Monday.

The Falcons (0-0) had three players score in double figures, led by Jalen williams, who had 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Nemo Johnson added 12 points and seven rebounds and Jawan Browder helped out with 10 points from the bench.

Mac Hughes pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Saint Augustine's offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into seven second chance points.

Saint Augustine's forced 17 South Carolina State turnovers while committing 16 themselves in Monday's game. The Falcons turned those takeaways into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Williams' two steals led the way for Saint Augustine's.

Saint Augustine's kept it close in the first period, but entered halftime down 36-34.

South Carolina State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 41-36 advantage before Saint Augustine's went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Jalen Williams' layup, to even the score at 41 all with 17:40 to go in the contest. The Falcons could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Bulldogs outscored them 28-20 the rest of the way to hand Saint Augustine's the 69-61 loss. Saint Augustine's capitalized on nine South Carolina State turnovers in the period, collecting eight points off those turnovers.
