SAU Track & Field opens season at JDL Early Bird Invitational

Winston-Salem, NC -- Saint Augustine's University track & field program kicked off it's 2023-2024 season at the JDL Early Bird Invitational in Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday, December 3rd.

Notable Performances

Saniya Simmons (Bowie, MD, Wise HS) finished 3rd in the 60m qualifying heats posting a time of 8.04.
Skyy Lawrence (Raleigh, NC, Heritage HS) placed 2nd in the 60m qualifying heats with a 7.01.
Amarion Harrell (Chesapeake, VA, Deep Creek HS) and Asheika Smith (St. Elizabeth, JAM, Universal School) both finished 2400m with 50.05 and 58.99 times respectively.
Kailen Perry (Raleigh, NC, Garner HS) and Jesiah Davis (Huntersville, NC, Hough HS) finished 3rd and 4th in the 500m with a 1:25.03 and 1:25.42 clocking.
Isaiah Chapman (Raleigh, NC, Southeast Raleigh HS) took 2nd in the 800m with a solid 1:57.82.
Sheree Wright (Manchester, JAM, Manchester HS) was 3rd in the high jump with a 1.58m jump (5' 2.25").
Lanyjah Gunter (Wendell, NC, Knightdale HS) took 4th in the triple jump with a 11.31m mark (37' 1.25").
The Womens 4x400 'B' team relay (S. Kelly, S. Miller, J. Murphy, A. Smith) took won their race in 4:00.64 while the 'A' team (C. Miller, C. Obi, S. Simmons, M. Johnson) took 3rd in 4:07.58.
The Mens 4x400 relay teams took 2nd and 3rd in their race with the 'A' team (J. Davis, A. Harrell, K. Budnam, K. Perry) clocking 3:22.43 and the 'B' team (S. Walls, I. Chapman, S. Crumpler, S. Kalawan) clocking 3:23.58.
