ROCKY MOUNT, NC (Sept. 1) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) placed first in both the men's 6K and the women's 4K races at the North Carolina Wesleyan Cross Country Classic on Friday, Sept. 1, on the campus of NC Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, NC.  
 

The SAU won the men's race with 27 points, followed by NC Wesleyan with 28 points. SAU also won the women's race with 15 points. 
 

Individually, Sean Kalawan (So./Westmoreland, Jamaica) of SAU was second in the men's race  with a time of 22:57.30 and Sean Crumpler (Fr./Huntersville, NC placed third with a time of 22:21.70. Philly Barungi of NC Wesleyan placed first (24:06.80). Isaiah Chapman (So./Raleigh, NC) finished sixth with a time of 23:49.60, and Kahlil West (Jr./Roanoke, VA) finished eighth with a time of 25:45.20.

In the women's race, Abijah Jepkemboi (So./Kapsabet, Kenya) led SAU with a first-place time of 15:22.30. The Lady Falcons swept the top four finishing times in the women's race with Taymar Smith (So./Greenville, SC) placing second (16:56.60), Ruth Jepkogei (Jr./Eldoret, Kenya) placing third (17:35.50), and Joyce Jepleting (So./Kapsabet, Kenya) placing fourth (17:44.90), respectively. Sheree Wright (So./Manchester, Jamaica) also finished seventh with a time of 22:12.00.
