Saint Augustine's College is getting ready for the 2011 CIAA Bowling Championships after a triumphant regular season. The Championships will be held Saturday-Monday at AMF Durham Lanes in Durham, N.C.
The Lady Falcons finished third in the Southern Division standings with a 24-21 mark against CIAA opponents. They are one of seven teams with a winning league record. The Lady Falcons are 33-30 overall including an 8-7 mark in Baker matches.
"We had a good year," Lady Falcon bowling coach Dot Neal said. "That is a good thing for us. We want to uphold our good year in the championships."
The 2010-11 season featured several highlights for the Lady Falcons. Brittany Jones (Detroit, Mich.) and Alicia Eldridge (Temple Hills, Md.) each bowled a score of 200 or higher in a match this season. Jones bowled a 226 score on Jan. 29 and Eldridge scored a 201 on Feb. 25.
Individually, Jones leads the Lady Falcons with a 157.97 average. JaNia Jones (Fayetteville, N.C.) is second on the team with a 142.71 average.
The first day of the Championships starts Saturday at 11:50 a.m. with the awards program. The matches begin at 1 p.m.
