SAU Volleyball Falls In Four Sets To Claflin

RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 1) – Janina Mayers (Fr./Christ Church, Barbados) paced Saint Augustine's University with 15 kills, but the Lady Falcons fell 3-1 to Claflin University in a CIAA women's volleyball match at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday.

The kills were a career-high for Mayers, who added 17 digs. Chandra Mackey (So./Nassau, Bahamas) contributed 12 kills and nine digs, and Zoey Isom (Sr./Phoenix, AZ) amassed 32 assists and 20 digs.

Brittany Jamison (Jr./Charleston, SC) chipped in eight kills and seven digs, and Jordan Rozier (So./Raeford, NC) tallied 10 digs for the Lady Falcons. Tia Jones (Fr./Bridgetown, Barbados) finished with four kills, four service aces and seven digs.

Jamie Dobson led Claflin with 16 kills and Jordan Taylor added 10 kills. Vianca Colon Gonzalez collected 41 assists and 13 digs for the Lady Panthers, who won 16-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23. The Lady Panthers improved to 5-12 in the CIAA Southern Division and 5-17 overall while the Lady Falcons dropped to 3-13 in the division and 3-16 overall.

The Lady Falcons are back at home on Friday, Nov. 2, against crosstown rival Shaw University at 6 p.m. Isom will be honored during the match on Senior Day.
