SAU Women's Basketball Falls To Virginia State At Home

RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 16) – Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) scored 14 points and Quiera Gilmore (Sr./Charlotte, NC) added 10 points for Saint Augustine's University (SAU) in a 64-50 CIAA women's basketball loss to Virginia State University at Emery Gymnasium on Monday.

Gilmore scored eight points in the fourth period, including a three-pointer that pulled the Lady Falcons within 51-46 with 5:39 left after trailing by 11 earlier in the period. The Lady Falcons were
outscored 13-4 the rest of the way.


Milequa Eason (Jr./Woodland, NC) added six points and Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) had five points, four assists and four rebounds for the Lady Falcons, who forced 30 turnovers and outscored the Trojans 13-7 in second chance points.
The Lady Falcons rank fifth nationally in Division II in turnovers forced.


Williams scored six points in the first half, including a layup that gave the Lady Falcons a 23-19 lead in the second period. The Lady Falcons went into halftime trailing 27-25.


Natalia Leaks had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Trojans (4-1 CIAA, 8-5 overall), who outscored the Lady Falcons 21-14 in turnover points and 32-22 in points in the paint. Yazmen Hannah added 14 points for the Trojans.


The Lady Falcons (0-2 CIAA, 4-5 overall) hit the road Wednesday, Dec. 18, to Orangeburg, S.C., for a Southern Division contest against Claflin University. Game time is 2 p.m.
