SAU Men's Basketball Falls To Claflin

RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 18) – Saint Augustine's University fell behind in the first half on its way to a 73-56 CIAA men's basketball loss to Claflin University at Tullis Arena in Orangeburg, S.C., on Wednesday.

Aaron Johnson-Cash (Redshirt Fr./San Francisco, CA) led the Falcons with 12 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Gaddy (Sr./Raleigh, NC) tallied 11 points and Karaan Clemonts (Jr./Weldon, NC) finished with nine points. Donte Edwards (So./Durham, NC) had eight points and Miguel Brown (Jr./Wilson, NC) collected seven points and seven rebounds.

The Falcons started the game with a 6-3 lead on two Gaddy three-pointers. They eventually trailed by double digits and went into halftime behind 39-26. The second half was pretty much even but the Falcons couldn't overcome their halftime deficit.

Donnell Frayer, Jr. scored 26 points for the Panthers (2-0 Southern Division, 2-2 CIAA, 5-7 overall). Letrell West added 14 points and Brandon Davis had 10 points.

The Falcons (0-1 Southern Division, 0-3 CIAA, 2-7 overall) visit Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday, Dec. 21. Game time is 4 p.m. at the Gaines Center.

This is the last game for the Falcons before the holiday break.
