SAU Women's Basketball Falls To Bowie State On The Road

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 20) – Saint Augustine's University (SAU) stayed close early but eventually fell 59-43 to regionally-ranked Bowie State University in a CIAA women's basketball game at Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md., on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Lady Falcons never led but only trailed 15-10 early in the second period on a three-pointer by Kiana Clark (Sr./Queens, NY). Their deficit stretched to 28-15 at halftime, and the contest slipped away from them in the second half. The Lady Falcons outscored the Bulldogs 20-16 in the fourth period for the final score.

Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA) scored 10 points and Milequa Eason (Jr./Woodland, NC) added eight points and nine rebounds for the Lady Falcons. Shankia Clark (Sr./Orlando, FL) had seven points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Falcons limited the Bulldogs to 33 percent shooting but shot 28 percent in the loss. The Bulldogs scored 26 points off turnovers.


Amel Duggins scored 14 points and Kyaja Williams added 11 points, nine rebounds and six steals for the Bulldogs (6-1 CIAA, 16-2 overall),
tied for fourth in the latest D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll.


The Lady Falcons (1-5 CIAA, 6-10 overall) play their third consecutive road game Wednesday, Jan. 22, against Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at New Trent Gymnasium.
