RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 29) – Kaaliya Williams (Sr./Richmond, VA) led Saint Augustine's University with 18 points and eight rebounds in a 57-47 CIAA Southern Division women's basketball loss to Claflin University at Emery Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Angela Caraballo (Sr./Richmond, VA) added 10 points for the Lady Falcons. Kamya Renwicks (Sr./Baltimore, MD) tallied eight points and five rebounds.
Kiana Clark (Sr./Queens, NY) hit two free throws to put SAU up 20-15 in the second period, but fell behind 27-25 at halftime. The Lady Falcons never led in the second half even though they tied the score three times.
Milequa Eason (Jr./Woodland, NC) scored on a layup to close the Lady Falcons within 45-43 with 3:38 left in the fourth period, but the Lady Panthers finished the contest with a 12-4 run.
Dionna Long scored 19 points for the Lady Panthers (1-11 CIAA, 1-19 overall). Shakarri Mack added 14 points.
The Lady Falcons (3-7 CIAA, 8-12 overall) play their fourth home game in eight days when they face Fayetteville State University at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 1. Game time is 2 p.m.
