SAU Men's Basketball Falls To Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 11) – Donte Edwards (So./Durham, NC) scored 14 points and Nilous Hodge (So./Charlotte, NC) added 10 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 70-51 loss to Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA men's basketball game at Brayboy Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Gary Jefferson (Jr./Baltimore, MD) contributed eight points and Miguel Brown (Jr./Wilson, NC) corralled 11 rebounds for the Falcons, who outrebounded the Golden Bulls 44-32, including 16-8 on the offensive glass. The Falcons outscored the Golden Bulls 11-2 in second chance points and 30-24 in points in the paint.

Hodge scored eight points and Edwards added seven points in the first half to spark the Falcons to a 26-21 halftime lead. The Golden Bulls outscored the Falcons 49-25 in the second half to turn the game in their favor.

Cayse Minor scored 18 points for the Golden Bulls, who made 24 of 29 free throws compared to 4 of 8 for the Falcons. Michael Robertson scored all 14 of his points, including four three-pointers, in the second half to spark the Golden Bulls (16-7 overall, 10-4 CIAA), who outscored the Falcons 22-4 in turnover points.

The Falcons (9-16 overall, 4-11 CIAA) travel crosstown to visit rival Shaw University on Saturday, Feb. 15, inside Spaulding Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
