ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Oct. 11) - Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) collected 11 kills, 10 digs and two assists for Saint Augustine's University (SAU) in a 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 20-25) CIAA volleyball loss to Claflin at Tullis Arena on Monday.
The defeat ended the Lady Falcons' three-match winning streak and dropped them into a second-place tie with Claflin in the Southern Division. Both SAU and Claflin are 3-1 behind division leader Fayetteville State, which is 4-0.
The Lady Falcons had won six of their last eight contests prior to Monday's match.
Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC) added six kills and two blocks, and Sydney Moore (So./West Bloomfield, MI) contributed 22 assists, 13 digs, two blocks and two service aces.
Janina Mayers (Sr./Christ Church, Barbados) had 13 digs and three assists, and Lisanne Roofe (Sr./Spanish Town, Jamaica) finished with five kills and one block for the Lady Falcons, who were missing two injured starters and playing their fourth match in five days.
Simone Newell led Claflin (5-2 CIAA, 7-6 overall) with 13 kills and Monae Rowser tallied 19 assists.
The Lady Falcons (4-3 CIAA, 6-8 overall) return to action in the CIAA Round-Up 2 in Ettrick, Va., this weekend.
