RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 29) - Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC) collected 17 kills and Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) added 12 kills for Saint Augustine's University in a 3-0 volleyball victory over Livingstone at New Trent Gymnasium in Salisbury, N.C., on Thursday.
The Lady Falcons improved to 4-3 in the CIAA Southern Division and 8-12 overall. They are tied for third in the division with three regular season matches remaining. Eight teams – the top four in the Northern and Southern Divisions – will advance to the CIAA Volleyball Championships which starts Nov. 16 at the site of the higher seed.
Sydney Moore (So./West Bloomfield, MI) amassed 28 assists and four aces and Janina Mayers (Sr./Christ Church, Barbados) tallied 15 digs for the Lady Falcons, who won 25-14, 25-19, 25-15. Meagan Williams (Fr./Durham, NC) finished with three kills, three aces, and eight digs.
Tiffany Chandler had eight kills for Livingstone (0-7 Southern Division, 2-13 overall).
SAU swept the season series against Livingstone. In an earlier meeting this month, the Lady Falcons captured a 3-1 victory in Raleigh, N.C.
The Lady Falcons will host Claflin on Monday, Nov. 1, in the final home match of the season. Four seniors (Tia Jones, Deandra Small, Malique Webb, and Mayers) will be recognized on Senior Night.
