RALEIGH, N.C. (Nov. 9) – Saint Augustine's University ended the regular season in thrilling fashion as the Lady Falcons defeated Johnson C. Smith 3-1 Monday night in a CIAA volleyball match in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Falcons, who finished with the league's seventh-best conference record (7-9), will make their first CIAA Tournament appearance since 2016. The top eight teams in the CIAA qualify for the tournament.

The CIAA will officially announce the pairings for the tournament, which begins Nov. 16, at a date to be determined.

Madison Jones (Fr./Durham, NC) totaled 13 kills and Tionna Graham (Jr./Portmore, Jamaica) added 11 kills for the Lady Falcons, who recovered from a 1-0 (17-25) deficit to win the final three sets.

The Lady Falcons won the second set 25-17 and the last two sets were extremely close. The Lady Falcons edged the Golden Bulls 25-23 in the third set and 25-20 in the fourth set.

The score was tied 20-20 in the fourth set before the Lady Falcons reeled off five consecutive points, including three kills by Jones, for the win. Sydney Moore (So./West Bloomfield, MI) had three assists and one service ace during the stretch.

Moore tallied 26 assists, six kills and five service aces overall for the Lady Falcons (5-5 Southern Division, 9-14 overall). Janina Mayers (Sr./Christ Church, Barbados) and Maegan Williams (Fr./Durham, NC) contributed 18 digs and 15 digs, respectively.
