RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 12) - Saint Augustine's University hung tough in the first half, but USC Aiken pulled away in the second half for a 74-60 men's basketball victory over the Falcons at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C., on Sunday.
The Falcons trailed by single digits in the first half and was behind 32-25 at halftime. The deficit increased to 16 points in the second half, but the Falcons pulled within eight points twice, the second time at 57-49 on a jumper by Jaylen Richard (Jr./Durham, NC) with under seven minutes left.
SAU was outscored 17-11 down the stretch.
Richard led the Falcons with 15 points and Dhashon Dyson (So./Chicago, IL) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Spencer Washington (So./Dallas, TX) nearly had a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds and Christopher Hill (Jr./Charlotte, NC) added eight points, four assists and two steals.
Preston Parks finished with 22 points for USC Aiken (6-3 overall), who won both games against the Falcons this season.
The Falcons (3-8 overall) visit Elizabeth City State in a CIAA game this Saturday, Dec. 18, before going on break for the holidays. Tipoff is 4 p.m. in Elizabeth City, N.C.
