RALEIGH, N.C. (Dec. 4) - Saint Augustine's University (SAU) took control early and cruised to an 83-51 women's basketball victory over Bluefield State at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday.
The win was the second in a row and fourth in the last five games for the Lady Falcons, who are 4-3 overall.
The Lady Falcons have scored 80 or more points three times this season, and the 51 points tied a season-low by an opponent. Seven Lady Falcons scored eight or more points led by Ariyanna Brown (Jr./Charlotte, NC) with 11. Jada Swafford (Sr./Alexandria, LA) and Milequa Eason (Sr./Woodland, NC) each scored nine points.
The SAU pressure defensive was too much for Bluefield State, which had 31 turnovers. The Lady Falcons turned their opponent's errors into 29 points.
SAU has forced 25 or more turnovers in four of seven games.
Autumn Spangler scored 13 points for the Big Blue (0-6 overall).
The Lady Falcons begin their CIAA schedule on Thursday, Dec. 9, at Virginia State. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m.
