Banks Scores 24 Points In SAU Women's Basketball Loss To JCSU

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 9) - Lauren Banks (Fr./Clinton, MD) scored a season-high 24 points for Saint Augustine's University in a 93-76 CIAA women's basketball loss to Johnson C. Smith at Brayboy Gymnasium on Wednesday. 

Banks swished 5 of 8 three-pointers, including three in a row in the fourth period as the Lady Falcons pulled within 13 points after trailing by 25 points in the third period. She scored 15 of the Lady Falcons' 21 points in the fourth period. 

Taniyah Greene (Fr./Cheltenham, MD) added 16 points on 8 of 10 shooting and Milequa Eason (Sr./Woodland, NC) collected 11 points for the Lady Falcons, who shot a season-high 52.6 percent. Vernisha Robin (Jr./Miami, FL) chipped in 10 points. Eason and Danielle Rainey (Jr./Florence, SC) each dished out four assists. 

Ciara Harris scored 21 points to lead five double-figure scorers for the Golden Bulls, who jumped out to a 31-15 lead at the end of the first period. The Golden Bulls shot 56.9 percent from the floor. 

The Lady Falcons are 3-4 in the Southern Division, 3-10 in the CIAA and 7-14 overall. The Golden Bulls are 6-1 in the Southern Division, 8-4 in the CIAA and 13-7 overall.  

After a five-game road stretch, the Lady Falcons return home to take on Claflin at Emery Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 12. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
