RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 19) – The Saint Augustine's University Department of Athletics (SAU) captured two CIAA academic awards on Friday.
The SAU women's cross country team and women's indoor track & field team each won the 2021-22 Dr. Freddie Vaughns Highest Team Academic Award in their respective sports. The award is given annually to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) in each of the CIAA's sponsored sports.
The women's cross country team posted a 3.72 Team GPA and the women's indoor track & field team recorded a 3.71 Team GPA.
Both teams earned academic honors under Sandy Chapman, the Head Cross Country Coach and Interim Track & Field Coach during the 2021-22 season.
