Johnson & Robinson grab MVP honors as Falcon's finish 3rd at CIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Winston-Salem, NC -- The Saint Augustine's University Men and Women took to the track for the CIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC.  Both teams finished 3rd in the overall standings despite some strong performances from the team.  The CIAA recognized Malaysia Johnson (Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dillard HS) and Terrell Robinson (Winston-Salem, NC, Mount Tabor HS) as the Championship MVP for Running Events at the conclusion of the meet.  Johnson had one of her best meets of the season winning the 60m dash, 200m dash, and putting up a strong leg on the championship winning 4x400 relay for the Falcons.  Robinson took the 60m dash for the Falcons making it back to back championships for the Sophomore who has the #2 ranked time in all of NCAA Division II track and field.

Other top performances and highlights for the Falcons included:
Shaunece Miller (Nassau, BS, Montverde Academy) won the women's Pentathlon and was 4th place in the 60m hurdles and high jump
Kahlil West (Roanoke, VA, William Fleming HS) won the men's Heptathlon and took 3rd in the pole vault and 4th in the high jump
Isaiah Chapman (Raleigh, NC, Southeast Raleigh HS) finished as runner up in the 800m and 4th in the mile
Lanyjah Gunter (Wendell, NC, Knightdale HS) finished as runner up in the long jump
Kailen Perry (Raleigh, NC, Garner HS) was 2nd overall in the 400m and 3rd overall in the 200m

Sean Kalawan (Westmoreland, Jamaica, G.C. Foster) was 3rd in the 400m and 6th in the 60m hurdles
Sheree Wright (Manchester, JAM, Manchester HS) finished 3rd in the high jump 
Kyrasani Mitchell (San Diego, CA, San Diego HS) finished 3rd in the shot put
Asheika Smith (St. Elizabeth, JAM, Universal School) was 4th in the 400m and 6th in the 200m
Skyy Lawrence (Raleigh, NC, Heritage HS) taking 4th place in the 60m
Nazir Imhotep (Chesapeake, VA) taking 5th in the 60m hurdles
Taymar Smith (Greenville, SC, Greer Middle College) finished 5th in the 3000m
Brenton Chapple (Baltimore, MD, Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS) finished 5th in the pole vault and 8th in the Heptathlon


The men and women won the 4x400 relay while the women finished runner up in the DMR and the men took 3rd in the DMR.

The Falcons will have one final tune up at The University of South Carolina this weekend before preparing for the NCAA DII National Championship meet in March.
