ELIZABETH CITY, NC --The Saint Augustine's volleyball team knocked off the Virginia Union Panthers in five sets (25-9, 18-25, 25-17, 15-25, 15-12) Sunday at R L Vaughan Center.
The victory moved the Falcons' record to 6-10 overall and 6-4 in CIAA play.
Madison Jones finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Falcons attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .407. Defensively, the Falcons had three players reach double figures in digs, including Nayara Pereira's 23, 11 from La'Tavia Braynen, and 10 more from Serena Edwards.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons took control on the first point and never trailed to secure the first set 25-9. Saint Augustine's opened up its biggest lead, 16 points, to finish off the set. Saint Augustine's also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Saint Augustine's then fell in set two 25-18, evening things at a set each. The Falcons fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Saint Augustine's then got back on the winning track, emerging victorious in set three and taking a two sets to one lead in the match. The Falcons led from the opening point on in the set to earn a 25-17 victory. Saint Augustine's ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, eight points, to close out the set.
SET 4 | Saint Augustine's couldn't finish off a four-set win as the Panthers forced a fifth set with a 25-15 victory. The Falcons lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set.
SET 5 | Saint Augustine's and Virginia Union went back and forth all game, trading set wins until the Falcons took set five 15-12 and the match. The Falcons led from the opening point on in set five to secure the victory. Saint Augustine's opened up as much as a seven point lead at 11-4 before closing out the set, totaling nine kills in the set.
