RALEIGH, NC --The Saint Augustine's volleyball team beat the Winston-Salem Rams 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 16-14) Monday at home at Emery Gymnasium.
The win improved the Falcons' record to 7-10 overall and 8-4 in CIAA action.
The Falcons were led by a double-double from Kavlyn Giacomelli, who registered 14 kills and 13 digs on the day. La'Tavia Braynen also added 14 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Nayara Pereira chipped in for with 25 digs to go with five blocks from Braynen.

SET 1 | The Falcons opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-21. Saint Augustine's never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Saint Augustine's put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Falcons never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Falcons took over the lead. The Saint Augustine's offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Winston-Salem stayed alive with a set-three victory to make it a 2-1 match. The Falcons came up short in a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-23 in a set that featured four lead changes and was tied 15 times. Neither team had a lead of more than three points along the way.
SET 4 | Saint Augustine's then dropped their second straight set 25-22 to brind the match level at two sets apiece. The Falcons trailed by as many as six points as Winston-Salem grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 and Saint Augustine's was never able to recover in a set that was tied up two times before the Rams took over the lead.
SET 5 | Saint Augustine's needed five sets to take the match. After they jumped out to an early two sets to none lead, Winston-Salem responded to take the third and fourth sets before the Falcons finished off their victory with a 16-14 fifth-set win. The Falcons took set five and the game despite falling behind by seven points at 8-1 before fighting back to secure the victory. Saint Augustine's jumped in front at 15-14 and hung on to take the set. Saint Augustine's also supplemented their offense with three aces in the final set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Winston-Salem attacks in the stanza.
