RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 3) –  Saint Augustine's University (SAU)'s Athletic Department landed a familiar face in the Raleigh community as its new communications lead. The SAU Athletics has announced Michael (Mike) Ramel as the new Sports Information Director, starting October 2, 2023. 

Ramel brings a variety of experience to SAU through his most recent position as Sports Information Director at Ravenscroft School in North Raleigh.  During his stint at Ravenscroft, he was responsible for establishing a social media footprint for the athletic department and streamlining their athletics communication process.  Ramel also oversaw the creation of program media guides for each of the 26 varsity sports as well as the complementary JV and Middle School programs.  Additionally, he started the foundation of compiling over 50 years of statistics to create record books for each of the programs on campus.  Mike worked closely with the communications and marketing team at Ravenscroft to put out timely press releases and in-depth coverage of all athletic related news.

A 2006 graduate of the College of Saint Rose - he was a member of both Cross Country and Track and Field programs. He later received his Masters in Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2012.  

No stranger to the coaching side, Ramel also spent over 15 years coaching high school Basketball, Track and Field and Cross Country.  During his time at Ravenscroft he lead the Varsity Boys and Girls track program to a 120-12 dual meet record, 18 individual conference champions, 1 state champion, and 4 all-Americans at the national level.  In addition, he coached the Varsity Girls basketball team to over 100 career victories along the way to the 2019 NCISAA 4A State Championship runner-up.
