RALEIGH, NC --The Saint Augustine's volleyball team took care of business in four sets (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-12, 25-12) to beat the Claflin Panthers Thursday at home at Emery Gymnasium.

The victory moved the Falcons' record to 10-10 overall and 10-4 in CIAA play.

The Falcons attack was paced by Madison Jones, who finished with 21 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .475, and by Kavlyn Giacomelli, who had 13. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs, including Nayara Pereira's 29, 15 from Sofia Sanchez, and 12 more from Serena Edwards.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Falcons opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-20. Saint Augustine's never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 18-17 in a set that featured 10 ties and six lead changes.

SET 2 | Saint Augustine's took the second set 25-20 to quickly grab a 2-0 lead. The Falcons earned the set victory with the help of a strong performance on the attacking side. Saint Augustine's put together a .340 attack percentage with 18 kills in the set win. The Falcons opened up an 11-3 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.

SET 3 | Saint Augustine's saw its bid for a 3-0 sweep end when Claflin took set three. The Falcons fought back from an eight-point deficit at 18-10, but Claflin hung on to win the set 25-22.

SET 4 | Saint Augustine's then responded to close out the match with a 25-12 set-four victory. The Falcons grabbed control of the set at 2-1 and never looked back. Saint Augustine's ended the stanza on a high note by opening up its biggest lead, 13 points, to finish off the set.
