FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Saint Augustine's volleyball team fell to the Fayetteville State Broncos 3-2 (15-25, 27-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-17) Monday on the road at Felton J Capel Arena.
The loss dropped Saint Augustine's' record to 11-11 overall and 11-5 in CIAA action.
Madison Jones finished with 15 kills on the day to lead the Falcons offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .419. Defensively, the Falcons had two players reach double figures in digs as Nayara Pereira had 29 and Kavlyn Giacomelli had 13. From the front row, Jones contributed five blocks.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-15. Saint Augustine's trailed by as many as 10 points as Fayetteville State never gave up the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Broncos took control.
SET 2 | Saint Augustine's responded to pick up a 27-25 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Falcons came out on top of a tight second set, winning in a stanza that was tied nine times and had three lead changes. Saint Augustine's' front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Fayetteville State attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 10 Fayetteville State attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 3 | Saint Augustine's built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Falcons took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-18 victory. Saint Augustine's opened up as much as a seven point lead at 17-10 before finishing off the set. The Saint Augustine's offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Saint Augustine's couldn't keep the win streak going, as the Broncos forced a fifth set with a 25-18 fourth-set win. The Falcons fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set.
SET 5 | Saint Augustine's took a lead of two sets to one before dropping the final two sets, including a 17-15 loss in the fifth set. The Falcons dropped a close fifth set, losing in a stanza that was tied two times and had two lead changes.
