ELIZABETH CITY, NC --Jordan Love hit a dagger jumper with 1:50 left in the fourth quarter to put Saint Augustine's up 71-64, and the Falcons earned a 75-69 victory over the Elizabeth City State Vikings on the road Monday.
The Falcons (5-7, 1-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Nate Youngblood, who had 18 points and eight rebounds. Love added 15 points and four steals and Jawan Browder helped out with 14 points and eight rebounds off of the bench.
Youngblood pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Saint Augustine's offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into 11 second chance points.
Saint Augustine's forced 22 Elizabeth City State turnovers while committing 18 themselves in Monday's game. The Falcons turned those takeaways into 26 points on the other end of the floor. Love's four steals led the way for Saint Augustine's.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 14-9 advantage, Saint Augustine's went on a 7-0 run with 9:18 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Nemo Johnson, to increase its lead to 21-9. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 33-31.
Elizabeth City State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 48-42 advantage before Saint Augustine's went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Youngblood's jumper, to even the score at 48 all with 10:48 to go in the contest. The Falcons kept the rally going and took the lead for good on Christopher Wright's three-pointer with 07:45 left to grab the 75-69 victory. Saint Augustine's took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 44 points in the lane.
