ANDERSON, SC --The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team went into halftime trailing Anderson (SC) 31-28, fought back from the deficit to tie the game at 60-60 and force overtime, but fell to the Trojans 71-64 on the road Monday.
The Falcons (3-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Nemo Johnson, who put together a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Joshua Johnson tacked on 15 points off of the bench and Jordan Love added eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Saint Augustine's offense was very productive from three point land, making eight threes on 22 attempts. Caleb Gilmore was the most prolific shooter for the Falcons, draining three treys in the contest.
Saint Augustine's defense held Anderson (SC) to only 17.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Falcons also limited Garrett Denbow to 2-of-13 shooting from downtown in the game.
How It Happened
After falling behind 31-22, Saint Augustine's went on a 6-0 run with 44 seconds left in the first half, culminating in a three from Gilmore, to narrow its deficit to 31-28, a score that would hold until halftime.
Saint Augustine's narrowed its deficit to 42-40 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Joshua Johnson's layup, to seize a 48-42 lead with 10:05 to go in the contest. The Trojans then fought back to even things up at 60-60 and send the game to overtime. Saint Augustine's shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting five shots from deep to score 15 of its 32 points.
Anderson (SC) then took control in overtime and won 71-64.
