Raleigh, NC. – The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team ended its 9-game losing streak with an aggressive defensive effort over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls. After giving up 93 points in its first matchup, the Falcons held the Golden Bulls to almost half of that with surrendering just 49 points. This victory is the Falcons' first victory since its 73-64 win over Bowie State on January 5th.
The Falcons were led by Chance Jamison with 13 points, Jaylen Richard with 12 points, and Kyshon Tate provided major energy and efficiency off the bench with 10 points on 5-6 shooting.
Head Coach Chucky Brown's Post game Comments
"I thought it was a good game for us, we still made some mental mistakes, but we were able to pull it out because of our defense. Giving up 49 points to a team that last time we played them, they scored 60 points -- in the second half on us. So, to give up only 49 points for an entire game, I have to credit our defense. We still got to get better free throw shooting wise, I think we missed like six or seven in the second half, and it could have been a double-digit game. But overall I thought our effort was there, our effort has been there, these last few games and like J. Rich (Jaylen Richard) said, we're playing pretty good together right now and this a good time to be getting a good rhythm, so I think as long as we keep working, that we're gonna be OK."
