Third Annual Lawrence Coleman Golf Tournament Set For June 16

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 10) – The third annual Lawrence Coleman Golf Tournament will be held Friday, June 16, at Hedingham Golf Course. The golfers tee off at 9 a.m.

The event, hosted by the Saint Augustine's University (SAU) Department of Athletics, is expected to draw well over 120 golfers.

Click HERE or go to saintaugfalcons.com, the SAU official athletic website, to register online or be a sponsor.

Funds raised from the golf tournament will help SAU Athletics in its mission to provide student-athletes with a first-class experience during their time at SAU.

The tournament is named in honor of Coleman, the legendary head golf coach at then-Saint Augustine's College for 37 years before his retirement in 2009.

Under his guidance, the Falcons won five HBCU Division II national titles, one HBCU overall national crown, and seven CIAA conference championships. President Clinton invited the golf team to the White House after winning the HBCU overall national title in 1993.

A 1971 Saint Augustine's graduate, Coleman passed away in 2021. He is in the National Black Golf and CIAA Halls of Fame.
