RALEIGH, NC --The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team got a 23-point performance from the bench, but fell 77-59 to the Shaw Bears on the road Saturday.

The Falcons (10-10, 6-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Jawan Browder, who had 13 points and seven rebounds. Nemo Johnson added 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks and Jalen Williams added seven points, four assists and two steals.

Led by Chris Volo's three offensive rebounds, Saint Augustine's did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 16 boards that resulted in 13 second chance points.

The Saint Augustine's defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Saturday's game, forcing 14 Shaw turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 14 points on the other end of the floor. Williams' two steals led the way individually for the Falcons.

How It Happened

After falling behind 16-9, Saint Augustine's went on a 6-0 run with 12:19 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 16-15. Shaw answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Falcons down 35-27 entering halftime.

Shaw kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 47-36 advantage before Saint Augustine's went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 47-42 with 10:54 to go in the contest. Shaw responded and outscored the Falcons the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 77-59. Saint Augustine's capitalized on 10 Shaw turnovers in the period, collecting 10 points off those turnovers.
