SALISBURY, NC --The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team got a 34-point performance from the bench, but fell 76-64 to the Livingstone Blue Bears on the road Wednesday.
Nemo Johnson led the Falcons (12-13, 8-7) with eight points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Jawan Browder also added 13 points off the bench and Jordan Love chipped in as well with nine points and four assists.
Led by Johnson's three offensive rebounds, Saint Augustine's did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 11 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.
The Saint Augustine's defense was a problem in Wednesday's game, forcing 18 Livingstone turnovers while committing 13. Those takeaways turned into 25 points on the offensive end of the floor. Johnson's two steals led the way individually for the Falcons.
How It Happened
After falling behind 12-8, Saint Augustine's went on a 5-0 run with 11:48 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Kaleb Glasper, to take a 13-12 lead. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 37-29.
Livingstone kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 47-33 advantage before Saint Augustine's went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Joshua Johnson's three, to shrink the deficit to 47-41 with 13:52 to go in the contest. Livingstone responded and outscored the Falcons the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 76-64. Saint Augustine's capitalized on 10 Livingstone turnovers in the period, collecting 15 points off those turnovers.
