FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Saint Augustine's men's basketball team got a 28-point performance from the bench, but fell 63-48 to the Fayetteville State Broncos on the road Saturday.

Joshua Johnson led the Falcons (11-11, 7-6) with 10 points and three steals. MacNasa Hughes also tacked on nine points and three steals and Nemo Johnson chipped in as well with nine points.

The Saint Augustine's defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 22 Fayetteville State turnovers while committing 13. Those takeaways turned into 17 points on the offensive end of the floor. Hughes' three steals led the way individually for the Falcons.

How It Happened

Saint Augustine's struggled out of the gate, falling behind 26-9 heading into halftime.

Fayetteville State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 61-40 advantage before Saint Augustine's went on an 8-0 run to shrink the deficit to 61-48 with 36 seconds to go in the contest. Fayetteville State responded and outscored the Falcons the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 63-48. Saint Augustine's capitalized on 10 Fayetteville State turnovers in the period, collecting 15 points off those turnovers.
