Crump Selected D2football.com National Defensive Player of the Week

After spending most of Saturday disrupting the Chowan University offense, defensive end Marcus Crump (R-Sr./Pittsboro, N.C.) of Saint Augustine's College was named D2football.com national defensive player of the week Wednesday (Nov. 4).

Crump (6-foot-6, 240 pounds) was unstoppable in his last college game in a Falcon uniform. He totaled nine tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss of which three were sacks. He also recorded one quarterback hurry and broke up a pass.

Crump led a Falcon defense which held high-powered Chowan to its lowest point total of the season in a 28-18 Falcon victory in Murfreesboro, N.C. Chowan entered the game as the top offensive team in the CIAA.

Crump ended his senior season ranked second in the CIAA in sacks (10) and third in tackles for loss (15). Nationally, Crump is tied for seventh nationally in sacks and tied for 25th in tackles for loss.

Crump is the second Falcon to win national honors from D2football.com. Quarterback Joaquin Green (Redshirt Freshman), a fellow Pittsboro, N.C., native, was named co-national offensive player of the week on Sept. 9 after tying a national freshman record with six touchdown passes against Charleston (W.Va.).
