Lady Falcons Sweep Livingstone In CIAA Volleyball

RALEIGH, N.C. – Saint Augustine's College continued its winning ways on Monday (Sept. 21) by beating Livingstone College 3-0 in CIAA volleyball at Emery Gymnasium.


The 25-7, 25-21, 25-13 victory was the second in a row and the eighth in 10 matches for the Lady Falcons, who upped their record to 8-10 overall, 8-2 in the CIAA and 2-1 in the Western Division. Stephony Newkirk (Jr./Greenville, N.C.) and Shakira Carter (Jr./St. Michael, Barbados) both tallied eight kills apiece to lead the Lady Falcons.

 

Roxanne Smith (So./St. Catherine, Jamaica) added 14 assists, Nicolette Campbell (So./Nassau, Bahamas) added seven digs, and Courtney Mosley (Jr./Decatur, Ga.) contributed four blocks for the Lady Falcons, who also got four service aces each from Keisha Parris (So./St. Catherine, Jamaica) and Brittany Hicks (Fr./Louisburg, N.C.).

 

Lashaundra Ferguson collected seven kills, and Michelle Thompson added five blocks for the Lady Blue Bears, who fell to 9-2 overall, 5-2 in the CIAA, and 0-1 in the Western Division.

 

The Lady Falcons take on crosstown rival Shaw University on Tuesday (Sept. 22) at Emery Gymnasium. The match starts at 6:00 p.m.
