Bowie, MD – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is announced the 2023 Volleyball All-Conference selections and superlatives today. Saint Augustine's Falcons own Madison Jones (Durham, NC, Jordan HS) was selected as the CIAA Offensive Player of the Year for the 2023 season. An incredible achievement for Jones to be honored and join a long list of Falcon alum. Jones earned this honor, as voted on by opposing coaches and media personnel for the conference along with earning Player of the Week titles in 4 of the last 5 weeks of the season. When Madison was told about her recognition, it came as a surprise and she humbly noted "It feels great to be recognized for hard work and I would not have earned these honors without my teammates." Alongside Jones, four other Falcon Volleyball members were honored as part of the selection team. La'Tavia Braynen (Nassau, Bahamas, Gibson Sr. HS) was named All-CIAA 1st team while Nayara Pereira (Araguari, Brazil, Conexao HS), SiAyera Boone (Akron, OH, Firestone HS), and Sydney Moore (Bloomfield, MI, West Bloomfield HS) were named to the All-CIAA 2nd team.
These honors come as the team won last nights quarterfinal match-up over visiting Virginia State University 3 sets to 2 to advance to the CIAA Semifinals. The team will travel to Bowie, Maryland to the campus of Bowie State University and A.C. Jordan Arena. They will match up with Elizabeth City State University on Saturday at 4:30 pm with the winners advancing to play the winner of Shaw University and Fayetteville State University in Sundays championship match scheduled for noon.
