Lady Falcons Remain Undefeated in the CIAA Southern Division

Lady Falcons Recover to Beat WSSU 3-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After falling behind early, Southern Division leader Saint Augustine's College regrouped to down Winston-Salem State 3-1 Monday in a CIAA volleyball divisional match at the Gaines Center.

Led by 14 kills each from Kathryn Tokarski (Jr./Saskatchewan, Canada) and Shakira Carter (Sr./St. Michael, Barbados), the Lady Falcons won the final three sets after dropping the first set. The final score was 24-26, 25-16, 25-13, 28-26. The win raised the Lady Falcons' record to 15-7 overall, 11-2 in the CIAA and 6-0 in the Southern Division. They also swept the season series against the Lady Rams.

Roxanne Smith (Jr./St. Catherine, Jamaica) gave out 37 assists and Nicolette Campbell (Jr./Nassau, Bahamas) had 15 digs for the Lady Falcons. Tokarski and Keisha Parris (Jr./St. Catherine, Jamaica) both added 10 digs while Carter contributed nine digs and eight blocks.

Ashley Harris amassed 15 kills for the Lady Rams, who dropped to 9-12 overall, 9-5 CIAA and 4-3 in the Southern Division. Kiara Brown dished out 37 assists for the Lady Rams while Erica Cole recorded 16 digs. Georgette Allen had seven blocks for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Falcons are back on the court Tuesday at Johnson C. Smith in another CIAA Southern Division match. The starting time is 6 p.m.
