CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Led by nine kills from Shakira Carter (Sr./St. Michael, Barbados), Saint Augustine's College trounced Johnson C. Smith 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 15-17) Tuesday at Brayboy Gymnasium to stay unbeaten in the CIAA's Southern Division.
The Lady Falcons (16-7 overall, 12-2 CIAA, 7-0 Southern Division) sit atop the Southern Division standings with three divisional matches left. They have a huge home match coming up Monday at Emery Gymnasium against Fayetteville State, who started the week one-half game behind the Lady Falcons. The match starts at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Lady Falcons made quick work of the Lady Golden Bulls (6-15, 4-10 CIAA, 1-6 Southern Division). Kathryn Tokarski (Jr./Saskatchewan, Canada) and Brittany Hicks (Soph./Louisburg, N.C.) both had eight kills and Roxanne Smith (Jr./St. Catherine, Jamaica) handed out 24 assists. Jerissa Lake (Sr./St. Croix, Virgin Islands) contributed four service aces for the Lady Falcons. Shameaka Randolph led the Golden Bulls with four kills.
