Lady Falcons One Win Away From CIAA Volleyball Crown

HAMPTON, Va. – Southern Division top seed Saint Augustine's College defeated Elizabeth City State 3-1 in Saturday semifinals to reach the finals for the first time since 2003 in the CIAA Volleyball Championships at Boo Williams Sportsplex.

 

The Lady Falcons (26-8), the Southern Division champs, will play Chowan for the title Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Falcons defeated the Hawks Friday 3-1 in tournament pool play. The championship match is scheduled to be streamed live on theciaa.com.

The Hawks, the Northern Division No. 2 seed, advanced to the finals by beating Southern Division second seed Fayetteville State 3-0 in the other semifinal on Saturday.

 

Kathryn Tokarski (Jr./Saskatchewan, Canada) collected 18 kills for the Lady Falcons, who won their seventh consecutive match. Roxanne Smith (Jr./St. Catherine, Jamaica) distributed 42 assists and Nicolette Campbell (Jr./Nassau, Bahamas) led the Lady Falcons with 22 digs. All three players are on the All-CIAA team.

 

Whitney Green had 10 kills for the Lady Vikings (22-7), the Northern Division top seed. Morgan Cary had 18 assists and Cassie Noe had 30 digs.
