Tokarski Paces Lady Falcons Over Livingstone 3-1

SALISBURY, N.C. - Kathryn Tokarski (Sr./Saskatchewan, Canada) tallied a match-high 15 kills to lift Saint Augustine's College over Livingstone College 3-1 Tuesday (Oct. 4) in a CIAA Southern Division volleyball match at Trent Gym.

Victoria Davis (Soph./San Diego, Calif.) added 11 kills for the Lady Falcons (7-12, 7-3 CIAA, 2-2 Southern Division), who snapped a five-match losing streak. The Lady Falcons also got eight kills each from Abeje Carrington (Jr./St. George, Barbados) and Brittany Hicks (Jr./Louisburg, N.C.) while Roxanne Smith (Sr./St. Catherine, Jamaica) had 40 assists. Carrington added five service aces.

Livingstone finished with 27 blocks, but the Lady Falcons still outhit the Lady Blue Bears in the 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22 win. The Lady Falcons totaled 50 kills compared to 35 for the Lady Blue Bears (9-9, 5-5 CIAA, 2-2 Southern). They were expecially hot in the early portion of the match which is reflected in their attack percentage in the first set (.364) and the second set (.270).

Defensively, the Lady Falcons collected 61 digs as a team with Tokarski and Hicks leading the way with 14 and 11, respectively. Phylicia Egbuna and Lakitta Hicks tied for team-high honors with 12 kills apiece for the Lady Blue Bears.

The Lady Falcons return home Friday (Oct. 7) in a CIAA Southern Division rematch against Winston-Salem State. The Lady Rams won the first meeting 3-0 on Sept. 23 to start the Lady Falcons' losing streak. Match time is 6 p.m. at Emery Gym.
