Volleyball Team Drops Three-Set Match to WSSU

RALEIGH, N.C. – Victoria Davis (Jr./San Diego, Calif.) led the way with 11 kills and Jamie Goff (Jr./Rubonia, Fla.) added nine kills for Saint Augustine's University in a 3-0 CIAA volleyball loss to Winston-Salem State University on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Emery Gymnasium on Dig Pink Night.
 
The Lady Falcons fell to 5-16 overall, 5-8 in the CIAA and 2-5 in the Southern Division. The Lady Rams upped their record to 6-17 overall, 6-7 in the CIAA and 3-3 in the Southern Division.
 
Julieesa Thomas (Fr./St. Croix, US VI) gave out 25 assists, Chelsea Farrior (So./Tampa, Fla.) contributed 14 digs and Brittany Hicks (Sr./Louisburg, N.C.) chipped in six kills, two solo blocks and two blocking assists for the Lady Falcons. Avoni Seymour led the Lady Rams with 12 kills and Alexandria Brown handed out 18 assists while Katelyn Sigala had 11 digs.
 
The Lady Rams edged the Lady Falcons 25-23 and 25-20 in the first two sets. They had a much easier time in the third set, winning 25-14.
 
The win gave the Lady Rams a split in the season series. On Sept. 20, the Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Rams in five sets in Winston-Salem, N.C.
 
The Lady Falcons step out of the conference to play in the Lees-McRae Invitational in Banner Elk, N.C. this weekend. They face host Lees-McRae and Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
