Volleyball Team Loses To Livingstone In Three Sets

SALISBURY, N.C. – Victoria Davis (Jr./San Diego, Calif.) led Saint Augustine's University with 14 kills, but the Lady Falcons fell 3-0 to Livingstone College in a CIAA volleyball match on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012.

The Lady Falcons dropped to 5-20 overall, 5-9 in the CIAA and 2-6 in the Southern Division after their fifth consecutive loss. Despite their record, the Lady Falcons still have a shot at making the CIAA Tournament, which will be held Nov. 16-18 in Hampton, Va.

The Lady Falcons are one game behind Shaw for the fourth and final qualifying spot in the Southern Division with two matches left in the regular season. Both teams meet again in a rematch at Emery Gymnasium on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. The Lady Bears won the first meeting in five sets at Shaw on Oct. 8. Eight teams (the top four in the Northern Division and Southern Division) advance to the CIAA Tournament.

Against Livingstone, Julieesa Thomas (Fr./St. Croix, US VI) had 17 assists and seven digs for the Lady Falcons. Dionna Hopkins (Fr./St. Croix, US VI) and Chelsea Farrior (So./Tampa, Fla.) contributed 18 and 12 digs, respectively. Phylicia Egbuna finished with 17 kills for Livingstone, which won 25-12, 25-21, 29-27. The Lady Blue Bears upped their record to 21-5 overall, 10-5 in the CIAA and 6-2 in the Southern Division.
