CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Saint Augustine's University volleyball team lost twice in the JCSU Tournament at Brayboy Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
The Lady Falcons lost to host Johnson C. Smith in five sets (22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 9-15) in the morning. The defeat snapped a four-match win streak for the Lady Falcons, who played JCSU a little more than 12 hours after beating Winston-Salem State in five sets on the road Thursday night. The loss counted as a division match for the Lady Falcons, who fell to 4-1 in the CIAA and 1-1 in the Southern Division.
Brittany Hicks (Sr./Louisburg, N.C.) led the Lady Falcons for the second consecutive match. After recording 17 kills against WSSU, Hicks followed up her effort with 16 kills against the Lady Golden Bulls. She added three solo blocks and four blocking assists.
Victoria Davis (Jr./San Diego, Calif.) added 10 kills while
Jamie Goff (Jr./Rubonia, Fla.) added seven kills and five service aces. The Lady Golden Bulls won their first match behind 14 kills from Sabrina Johnson. Kayla Bazemore contributed 17 assists.
The Lady Falcons lost to Armstrong Atlantic State in the evening by an 8-25, 15-25, 10-25 score. Hicks led the Lady Falcons with four kills. Ashley Seal led AASU with seven kills.
For the season, the Lady Falcons are 4-8 overall. They meet USC Aiken in an 11 a.m. match on Saturday in the tournament's final day.
