Victoria Davis Sparks St. Aug Past JCSU 3-1

Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - Victoria Davis (Sr./San Diego, Calif.) recorded 14 kills, 13 digs and seven blocking assists to lead Saint Augustine's University to a 3-1 CIAA volleyball win over Johnson C. Smith University at Emery Gymnasium on Monday, October 14, 2013.

Sklya Isidore (Jr./Morne Castries, St. Lucia) added 14 kills and seven digs for the Lady Falcons, who won their third straight match and first home match. With the win, the Lady Falcons remained in a second-place tie with Fayetteville State University at 4-2 and moved one game behind Southern Division leader Winston-Salem State University, which is 5-1 after losing to Fayetteville State Monday.

Olivia Porter (Fr./Bakersfield, Calif.) contributed nine kills and Julieesa Thomas (So./St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) amassed 29 assists while Kayla Cason (Fr./Virginia Beach, Va.) had 17 digs for the Lady Falcons (7-5 CIAA, 7-8 overall). Temperance Jacobs (Fr./McDonough, Ga.) chipped in six blocking assists and Brooke Morris (Fr./Norwalk, Conn.) finished with four kills, five digs and three blocking assists for the Lady Falcons, who held a 13-4 edge in total team blocks.

Jane Tukia led the Lady Golden Bulls (3-3 Southern Division, 6-5 CIAA, 8-9 overall) with 11 kills and Gracyn Doctor added nine kills. Kayla Bazemore had 21 assists and Imeshia Jones compiled 14 digs for the Lady Golden Bulls.

The Lady Falcons dropped the first game 25-19 but rebounded to take the next three for the win. The scores were 25-20, 25-20 and 25-21. By beating the Lady Golden Bulls, the Lady Falcons swept the season series. They won the first meeting 3-1 in Charlotte, N.C. on Sept. 19.

The Lady Falcons will host the SAU Tri-Match at Emery Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 18. The Lady Falcons face Chowan University at 3 p.m. followed by a matchup between Chowan and Barton College at 5 p.m. The Lady Falcons meet Barton in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
